A nontraditional learner, deaf since age six, transgender and a former foster youth, Asher has brought their advocacy work into 56�Թ��� classrooms, boardrooms and beyond.

In a powerful affirmation of its mission and future, 56�Թ��� has announced the launch of the Legacy Fund, a new fundraising initiative made possible by a transformational $5 million gift from alumna Jane Stedman, B.A. ’75.

The Black Student Union (BSU) hosts socials, networking events and guest speakers to spotlight Black excellence and provide low-pressure social activities for students on campus.

Dr. Garcia, a professor in the School of Education at University of California-Berkeley, discussed measures to transform institutions and make them more accessible to students of all backgrounds.

Mayor Johnson and an esteemed panel joined 56�Թ��� President Ali Malekzadeh to explore how universities and city leaders can work in partnership to advance education, equity and civic opportunity.

The award recognizes students and faculty who serve as advocates for change and exemplify an ongoing commitment to social justice in the classroom, workplace and community.
