The panel delved into key issues that included where our newly arrived migrant neighbors have come from, the response time from the city of Chicago and the rate at which migrants have been able to access resources.

Women make up 58% of 56�Թ���'s Biological, Physical and Health Sciences faculty, and their successes range from groundbreaking research to greater inclusivity in STEM fields.

The event was a successful first entry in a planned series of outreach events between the University and various Chicago community partners.

56�Թ���’s biology undergraduate program was recently ranked one of the best in the nation for women by Washington Monthly, with 87% of program graduates identifying as female.

56�Թ��� will host several events throughout campus to celebrate Latino and Hispanic culture in the United States as well as confront challenges these communities face.

This year’s conference will be “Immigration and the American Dream,” with discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities faced by those seeking a better life in the United States both in the past and present.

Ayala-Bermejo will speak to her work to address the migrant crisis in the city, highlighting the idea that every single one of us can make a difference.
